Malaysian high commissioner lauds Pak strides in combating terrorism

ISLAMABAD, JUL 17 (DNA) –High Commissioner of Malaysia Ikram Mohamed Ibrahim has said Pakistan has made significant strides in combating terrorism towards achieving durable peace and security in the country.“While the terrorism threats have indeed significantly been reduced, we commend the Pakistani security agencies for remaining vigilant to prevent any possible terrorist attacks”.The Malaysian high commissioner said this in an interview with DNA.

Pakistan greatly values ties with Belgium, President tells outgoing envoy

ISLAMABAD, JUL 17 (DNA) – Pakistan attaches highest value to its relations with Belgium both bilaterally and within the context of the European Union, said President Dr. Arif Alvi, while talking to the Outgoing Ambassador of Belgium, Mr. Frederic Verheyden, who paid farewell call on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Wednesday.Appreciating the cordial bilateral relations, the President underscored the need for convening of joint commission meeting to further intensify dialogue for strengthening cooperation between the two in spheres like economics, trade, and tourism.

President Emaan Islamic Banking meets Uzbek ambassador

ISLAMABAD, JUL 17 (DNA) – President of Emaan Islamic Banking (structure of Silk Bank) Jawad Majid Khan met Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Furqat Sidiqov in order to discuss further strengthening of interbank and financial relations between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.With the assistance of Embassy of Uzbekistan an important agreement was concluded on interbank cooperation between JSC Asaka Bank and Emaan Islamic Banking.

US ‘incredibly supportive’ of Kartarpur Corridor initiative

WASHINGTON, (DNA) – The United States (US) welcomed the Kartarpur Corridor initiative between Pakistan and India and said Washington was “incredibly supportive” of the project, said a statement released by the Department of State.“We encourage it. Anything that increases people-to-people ties between India and Pakistan is something that we’re incredibly supportive of,” said States Department Spokesperson Morgan Ortagus while addressing the media in Washington.

Kulbushan verdict: ICJ likely to reject India plea to release convicted spy

ISLAMABAD: (DNA) – The International Court of Justice (ICJ) is likely to reject India’s plea to release Kulbushan Jadhav, an Indian spy who was arrested in 2016 and sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court for carrying out acts of terror in Balochistan and Karachi.The judgment of the ICJ in Jadhav’s case will be read in open court today at 6pm PST at the Peace Place in The Hague.Pakistan’s legal team, headed by Attorney General for Pakistan Anwar Mansoor Khan reached Netherlands yesterday.

Second lunar eclipse of 2019 witnessed in Pakistan

LAHORE (DNA) – The second lunar eclipse of 2019 was witnessed in various parts of the world including Pakistan on night between Tuesday and Wednesday.It was a partial lunar eclipse which started at 1:02 am in Pakistan and lasted till 5-18 am. The lunar eclipse was also witnessed several countries of Asia, Europe, Africa and South America.
