ISLAMABAD: (DNA) – National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved power generation license to Lahore Xingzhong Renewable Energy Company (Private) Limited for construction of 40MW energy power plant at Lakhodair, district Lahore.
The venture is one of the different idea in the field of power generation by using waste material. Furthermore, it will diminish about 2000 tons/ day of the solid waste for the production of electricity, in order to improvise the societal needs for a developed nation.
The venture is spread out on 52 hectares of land, Lakhodair is known as Pakistan’s first ever scientific waste disposal and management site, previously is was started operating in April 2016.
However, NEPRA has proclaimed an aggressive tariff of US Cents 10.007/kWh for energy related projects based on waste management based on 25 years equipped period. The capability for these energy projects are of 250 MW, and the division for each province and Federal Territory shall be of 50MW each.
This project is an initiative towards minimization of waste disposal problems and troubles faced due to inadequate room for  landfills and gas emissions, for a cleaner and healthier environment.
The reason behind issuing of licence is mainly due to electricity crisis in the country, and it is expected that these power generation plants will contribute in energy production at cheap rates, resulting in minimizing the energy crisis in Pakistan.
