ISLAMABAD, NOV 09 (DNA) – Ambassador of Tajikistan Sherali Jononov has said Pakistan is fortunate that it had leaders such as Allama Iqbal who had waged a valiant struggle both on literary and political fronts to get a separate piece of land for Mulsims.

It was because of the struggle of Pakistan Movement heroes including Allama Iqbal that Pakistan came into being in 1947.

Ambassador of Tajikistan expressed these views while speaking on the occasion of a conference on Allama Iqbal held under the aegis of Muslim Institute. Among others Ambassador of Poland also spoke on the occasion.

The ambassador said, Muhammad Iqbal (1877-1938) is one of the eminent writers of the Indo-Pakistan subcontinent. Indeed, the attention he has received from numerous writers, translators, and critics from Western as well as Islamic countries testifies to his stature as a world literary figure.

Allama Muhammad Iqbal was a distinguished poet, a brilliant scholar and a gifted philosopher, but, above all else, he was a true visionary.

Pakistan was fortunate to have him as its ideological founder. It was at the Allahabad session of the Muslim League in 1930 that Iqbal became the first politician to articulate the two-nation theory that ultimately led to the creation of Pakistan on August 14, 1947.

The Ambassador said, while his primary reputation is that of a poet, Iqbal has not lacked admirers for his philosophical thought. He has in fact been called “the most serious Muslim philosophical thinker of modem times.”

The frequently used appellation of “poet-philosopher” is thus well deserved. The hyphen in the phrase is all-important: Iqbal’s poetry and philosophy do not exist in isolation from each other; they are integrally related, his poetry serving as a vehicle for his thought, the ambassador added.

Ambassador Sherali said, Iqbal wrote poetry in Urdu and Persian, and several collections in each language exist.  He himself said:-“When truth has no burning, then it is philosophy, when it gets burning from the heart, it becomes poetry”.

A detailed discussion of the thematic and literary features of Iqbal’s poetry is not be undertaken here. A few general points may, however, be made.

A reader of Iqbal’s poetry is struck by its sheer thematic variety. Iqbal was deeply interested in the issues that have exercised the best minds of the human race—the issues of the meaning of life, change and constancy, freedom and determinism, survival and progress, the relation between the body and the soul, the conflict between reason and emotion, evil and suffering, the position and role of human beings in the universe—and in his poetry he deals with these and other issues.

He had also read widely in history, philosophy, literature, mysticism, and politics, and, again, his catholic interests are reflected in his poetry.

Iqbal celebrates humanity, in more than one sense. On one level he shows broad acceptance for humanity. Humans must, therefore, strive to be perfect humans, and that is a goal yet to be achieved.

Tajik people are not only rich in culture and literature, but we also have severance and recognition of the literary works of Pakistan’s National Poet and Architect of Pakistan Allama Muhammad Iqbal, who lives in our hearts as “Iqbali Lahori”.

Tajik people the warmth of affection and admiration towards “Shair-e-Mashriq” Allama Iqbal. Is very evident as the treat him like other Persian and Tajik poets Abuabdullo Rudaki, Abulqosim Firdavsi, Ibn Sino, Fariddudin Attor,  Mavlana Jaloliddini Balkhi (Rumi), Kamoli Khujandi, Abdurahmoni Jami, Abdulqodir Bedil and others. His progressive and wisdom not only endorsed in the Asia but also all round in the world. Allama Iqbal poetical and philosophical works have remained a beacon for people of East.

Central Asia in the past was a closed region to people Pakistan. However, there has been a faint, memory in the mind of the people who are stirred by Allama Iqbal’s nostalgic poetic verse about the cultural and scientist cities in Central Asia.

Allama Iqbal, known in Tajikistan as Shair-e-Mashriq was the main icon for the Muslims of subcontinent, which led to the creation of Pakistan. His progressive thoughts based on social equality and justice. It also has binding force of the new generation of youth was not only endorsed in the East but also all around in the world.

The poetical works of Allama Iqbal were introduced in Tajik society through kind courtesy of Tajik poet Mirsaid Mirshakar who visited Lahore, Pakistan 1958 and brought along the rare collections of Persian writings of Allama Iqbal to Tajikistan.

Since then, Allama Iqbal lives in heart every Tajiks. Recently by support of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and also participation of the Embassy of Pakistan to Tajikistan were published “Kulliyoti Forsi” and “Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islam”.=DNA
