Sri Lankan HC visits birthplace of ancient Buddhist Gandara

TAXILA, MAY 20 (DNA) – High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, Noordeen Mohamed Shaheid and Zulfiqar Bukhari PM’s Special Envoy for Overseas Pakistanis visited the birthplace of ancient Buddhist Gandara in Taxila.The visit was organized by an Interfaith harmony group to commemorate Vesak Festival.Rev. Sarmad Ali, Uzbek ambassador discuss business council matters

ISLAMABAD, (DNA) – Ambassador of Uzbekistan  Furqat Sidikov held an informal meeting with the President of the Uzbek-Pakistani Business Council, the head of the popular Pakistani media company Jang Media Group and the Secretary General of All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) Mr. Sarmad Ali.During the meeting, issues of expanding trade cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, as well as promising areas of bilateral investment partnership were discussed.

Spouses of Heads of Diplomatic Missions Donate Books to the National Library of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, MAY 17 (DNA) -Within the Framework of outreach activities of the Heads of Diplomatic Missions’ Spouses Group, a number of spouses of Ambassadors and High Commissioners donated 140 books from their private collections and from the collections of their Embassies to the National Library of Pakistan.The Group and its President, MrsGhada Ahmed, Spouse of the Ambassador of Egypt attempts, through this donation, to reach out to the Pakistani community by introducing their different cultures through their books.

Sharif family committed economic terrorism: Firdous Ashiq Awan

Harish & Company case: NAB to file supplementary reference against Asif Zardari

ISLAMABAD (DNA) –The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has Friday decided to file a supplementary reference against former president and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari in Harish and Company case.The erstwhile president will be a nominated suspect in the reference. The NAB sources have revealed that the decision has been taken against Asif Ali Zardari for not cooperating in the investigation.

President Secretariat saves Rs 224 M by adopting austerity measures

ISLAMABAD (DNA) – An amount of Rs 224 million has been saved by the President Secretariat since the incumbent Government took over, as part of the drive to slash expenses by adopting austerity measures.This has been done under the directions of President Dr Arif Alvi to reduce expenses without affecting the efficiency of operations and quality of service delivery, said a press release issued by the President House on Thursday.The projected expenditure for the financial year 2018-19 is 6.1% less against the allocated budget, as opposed to the previous financial years that consistently suffered budget deficits.

KARACHI (DNA) – Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance Abdul Hafeez Sheikh on Thursday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has taken difficult decisions to improve country’s economy.Addressing a press conference in Karachi along with Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, he said that Pakistan is facing difficult economic conditions as the country’s foreign deposits have decreased to US$10 billion.
