Democracy best way to serve people: President Widodo

Indonesian President Joko Widodo has called for a firm commitment to democracy as it is the only way to serve interests of the people. He was addressing the joint session of the Parliament in Islamabad soon after his arrival on January 26. The Indonesian President said democracy provides space for people in decision-making process, helps maintain political stability and achieve growth. Joko Widodo said economy of a country or a region can grow if there is political stability and security. He said economic activities will never take place if there is conflict or war. He said conflicts and wars benefit no one and people mainly women and children become most impacted in such situations.

How would you describe bilateral relations between Pakistan and Romania in the fields of politics; trade and culture?

Romania and Pakistan have established diplomatic relations in 1964, we have had uninterrupted diplomatic ties for over 50 years, during which my country has contributed to the development of Pakistani economy by building cement factories in Labelled and Kohat, refineries in Karachi, tractor assembly factory near Islamabad and many other projects in various fields.

 Please tell us about US embargoes on Cuba. What is the current situation? I think it is firstly necessary to explain how and when the blockade arises and the reasons why it was implemented.On January 1st, 1959, the revolutionary struggle against the Cuban dictatorial regime ended victoriously. The revolutionary movement led by Fidel Castro acceded to power.The measures adopted by the Revolutionary Government to recover the Cuban wealth and destine it to the people constituted a mortal blow to the interests of the biggest North American monopolies which had plundered Cuban resources for more than half a century, and dominated the country.

Q: Would you please tell us about successes of Uzbekistan during the years of Independence?

A: After gaining Independence Uzbekistan was able to achieve rapid development of its industrial sector in short period of time. The Government of Uzbekistan has paid special attention to the development of oil and gas, chemical, automobile and electrical industries as well as other most important sectors of economy. Nowadays Uzbekistan is holding leading positions in the world by the speed of development of its industrial sector. To achieve these results the Government of Uzbekistan has created all necessary economic, legal and investment conditions for attracting foreign investors to the real sectors of economy.

  1. Lets begin with Pakistan, Somalia bilateral relations. Please share with us some relations especially, political, trade and Economic relations. 
  2. First of all, I have been highly impressed by the warm welcome I received from the Pakistani People. It gives me immense pleasure to say that the relations between Somalia and Pakistan are good, because we uphold the principle of mutual respect and trust and we have a reciprocal consideration . The two countries have been developing a fruitful and close cooperation since 1st of July 1960. In 1969, Pakistan and Somalia were among the founding members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Somalia’s relations with Pakistan remained strong in the following years and through the ensuing civil war period, when the Pakistani military contributed to a UN peacekeeping operation in southern Somalia. In 2010, Pakistan tabled a proposal for United Nations Security Council seats for OIC and Arab League states, the latter of which Somalia is also a member.

Please share with our readers brief history of the celebration of the day?

It is a very distinctive day for Morocco and its whole nation, from the city of Tangiers in the North Western part to Lagouira in the southern provincesof the Kingdom;it is one of the most celebrated days of the year. It’s the 18th anniversary of His Majesty King Mohammed VI (sixth) enthronement. I would like to give an overview of the Moroccan political system then to reveal some highlight events of the Moroccan diplomacy and finally to present some facts on the economical field.
